Children were amazed when they got to school to find it had been turned into a Willy Wonka wonderland.
Pupils from Parkside Primary, Ridgeway Park, Chingford, enjoyed a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory activity day.
Parents and children alike were surprised as they entered the school this morning to find the school adorned with balloons, bunting and confectionery decorations.
All the teachers and staff dressed up as characters from Roald Dahl's ever-popular book, and two chocolate factories constructed in the playground.
By way of explanation the teachers handed parents a leaflet to inform them not to be alarmed: "Mr and Mrs Wonka have brought the chocolate factory to Parkside.
"They are shocked at how the gold ticket winners behave and have heard that we are 'Proud to Shine' at Parkside so they have transported the factory here.
"The children must produce lots of good quality writing to show Violet, Augustus, Veruca and Mike how to be deserving golden ticket winners! "
All children, from nursery to Year 6, at Parkside School enjoyed a fun-filled day learning literacy.
