The Adventures of Doctor Doolittle will be performed against the backdrop of the Forest this weekend.

The City of London Corporation, in partnership with open air theatre performers Illyria, is holding the production in Wanstead Park in Epping Forest on Sunday (August 12).

The play follows Doctor John Dolittle of Puddleby-on-the-Marsh who is taught by his wise old parrot how to talk to animals.

News of his skills spreads far and wide and spark a mission to heal illness, spread compassion and gain a greater understanding of the animal kingdom.

Philip Woodhouse, chairman of the City of London Corporation’s Epping Forest and City Commons Committee, said: “We are proud to continue this longstanding theatrical association with Illyria again this year.

"These performances have become a staple in the Forest events calendar and remain very popular.

“I hope that visitors will enjoy the show and also be inspired to visit this magnificent ancient woodland more often.”

Gates open at 1pm and the performance starts at 2pm.

Tickets cost £14.95 for adults, £8.95 for children and £45 for two adults and two children.
