The inaugural chairman's charity at Chigwell Parish Council is the Chigwell Riding Trust.

Having taken over the reigns of the council in May, Cllr Darshan Sunger decided to start a tradition of the chairman adopting a new charity each year.

His pick is the Chigwell Riding Trust, the first riding centre for people with special needs in the world.

Cllr Sunger said: "I think what they do is great.

"Horse riding stimulates the brain and helps bring things into perspective.

"I have formed a sub-committee which will be led by Rochelle Hodd.

"We are going to raise as much as possible.

"This is something I want to leave behind as part of my legacy as chairman."
