Three teenage boys have been arrested for driving offences are police were led on an early morning high-speed chase which lasted more than seven miles.

The pursuit started on the A414 in Harlow at around 12.15am on Sunday (August 19) and ended in Shackletons, Ongar, after a stinger was deployed.

The boys, all aged 17, were in a Volkswagen Polo that was being driven erratically and police signalled for it to stop.

After it failed to pull over, a chase ensued before the driver and front seat passenger abandoned the car.

A police helicopter was deployed to search for the teenagers and they were found hiding nearby.

The third boy remained in the backseat of the car.

All three remain in custody for questioning.
