Redbridge is one of the four worst boroughs in London for eviction levels.

Redbridge Council is also one of the four worst for its affordable housing delivery levels.

According to charity Trust for London, the borough is 29th out of 32 for evictions per 1,000 people and is 30th out of 32 for the net number of affordable houses completed in the three years up to 2016.

The borough is also among the bottom eight for its unemployment levels, which stands at 5.3 per cent of the working aged population.

Currently, the borough has 26 evictions per 1,000 renting households.

And out of all of the houses the council built in the three years up to 2016, only seven per cent were affordable.

A council spokesperson said: “The council will seek to maximise the provision of affordable housing from all sources in the borough. The new local plan’s affordable housing policy sets a minimum strategic affordable housing target of 35 per cent to be delivered on schemes of 10 or more units.

“The council will also consider a variety of funding and design solutions such as use of grant, housing association’s own funding and innovative funding models to increase the overall number of affordable homes.

“We are also planning to work with our tenants to establish a forum where advice and support on housing can be provided, which will also provide an excellent opportunity to build relationships with landlords.”
