Drivers in Loughton and Roydon may face disruption to their journeys due to planned temporary road closures for roadworks.

Details of the extent of the closures, and other restrictions that may be implemented while the works are carried out, are carried in a notice from Essex County Council in this week’s edition of the Guardian.

All temporary closure orders, if made, are valid for up to 18 months and the dates when the works will take place will be shown on signs at or near the relevant location or on the one.network website.

Part of Old House Lane, Roydon, is set to be shut for eight days from April 18 for new water connection works.

The closure is due to apply from 350m north-east of its junction with Epping Road for a distance of 25m in a north-easterly direction.

No diversion will be available.

Water connection works are also due to close a section of Smarts Lane, Loughton, from April 19 for five days.

The closure is due to be in place from 80m south-east of its junction with High Beech Road for a distance of 30m in a south-easterly direction.

In addition, ‘no waiting, no loading and no stopping’ restrictions will be introduced along the same length of road during the closure.

The alternative route will be via High Beech Road, Smarts Lane and vice versa.

Meanwhile, an order has been made for the phased closure of several roads in Harlow.

A temporary 30mph speed limit will also be introduced on the affected lengths of roads, along with ‘no waiting, no loading and no stopping’ restrictions.
