Motorists may find their journeys disrupted next month due to a number of temporary road closures for works across Epping Road.

A notice from Essex County Council in this week’s edition of the Guardian details plans to shut roads in Epping and Roydon among other areas.

All temporary closure orders are valid for up to 18 months and the dates when works take place are subject to change.

Water works are due to lead to the closure of part of Epping Road, Roydon, for three days from September 6.

The road is due to be shut from its junction with Low Hill Road for a distance of 60m in a north-westerly direction.

The diversion will be via Epping Road, Kingsmead Hill, Harlow Road, Roydon Road, Elizabeth Way, Third Avenue, Bypass Road, Flex Meadow, Katherine’s Way, Southern Way, Water Lane, Brookside, Epping Road Roundabout, Tylers Road and vice versa.

A five-day closure of Harlow Common, North Weald Bassett, is set to start on September 19 for drainage defect works from the junction with London Road for a distance of 505m in an easterly direction.

The alternative routes are available via London Road, A414, Hastingwood Roundabout, Canes Lane, Hastingwood Road, Mill Street and Harlow Common; or via Harlow Common, Mill Street, Hastingwood Road, Canes Lane, Hastingwood Roundabout, A414, A414 between southern town boundary and Harlow Mill Roundabout, Southern Way and Potter Street.

Also on September 19 for five days, another closure is due to be in place in Hoe Lane, Nazeing, for gas connection works.

The closure is set to apply from 1190m north-east of its junction with Palmers Grove for a distance of 80m in a north-easterly then easterly direction.

The diversion will be via Hoe Lane, Betts Lane, Nazeing Common, Middle Street and vice versa.

Ducting works are due to temporarily close a section of Coopersale Common/Houblons Hill, Coopersale, from September 21 for three days.

The road is due to be shut from a point 25m south-west of its junction with Brickfield Road for a distance of 135m in a south-westerly direction.

The diversion will be via Coopersale Street, Stonards Hill, Theydon Grove, Palmers Hill, Maltings Drive, Tidys Lane, Thornwood Road, The Plain, Epping Road (with access only into Houblons Hill and Coopersale Common) and vice versa.

Bury Lane, Epping, is set to be shut from its junction with High Road for a distance of 140m in a north-westerly direction for one day on September 22 for pole testing works.

The alternative route will be via High Road, High Street, Palmers Hill, Lindsey Street, Church Hill, Bury Lane and vice versa.
