Drivers may find their journeys disrupted due to temporary road closures across Epping Forest for roadworks in September.

A notice from Essex County Council in this week’s edition of the Guardian details its intention to shut roads in Chigwell, Harlow, Nazeing and North Weald Bassett.

All temporary closure orders are valid for up to 18 months and the dates when works are due to take place is subject to change.

Water disconnection works are set to shut Park Hill, Harlow, from its junction with Penshurst for a distance of 15m in a south-westerly direction.

The closure is due to start on September 12 for three days and no diversion will be available.

Pole replacement works are due to temporarily close Pudding Lane, Chigwell, on September 27 for one day.

The closure is set to be in place from a point 415m south-east of the junction with Abridge Road for a distance of 285m in a south-easterly direction.

Motorists are advised to use Pudding Lane, Gravel Lane, Abridge Road Roundabout, Abridge Road and vice versa during the closure.

Part of Back Lane, Nazeing, is due to be shut from September 28 for three days for water meter exchange works.

The closure is due to apply from a point 280m north-west of its junction with Nazeing Common for a distance 195m in a north-westerly direction.

The alternative route will be via Back Lane, Nazeing Common, Betts Lane and vice versa.

Ducting and blockage clearance works are set to lead to the closure of the following sections of road from September 29 for seven days:

  • Woodside, North Weald Bassett, from its junction with High Road for a distance of 420m in a south-westerly direction.
  • Upland Road, North Weald Bassett, from its junction with High Road for a distance of 435m in a south-westerly direction.

The alternative routes will be via:

  • Epping Road, The Plain, Thornwood Road, High Road (with access only into Woodside) and vice versa.
  • High Road, Thornwood Road, Palmers Hill, Lindsey Street, Epping Road (with access only into Upland Road) and vice versa.
