A serious crash where two cars hit head on has left a pair in critical condition and a woman has been arrested.

The crash, which left four occupants of one car with serious injuries, happened on Hoe Street at the junction with Grove Road in Walthamstow at around 7.10pm on Sunday (March 24).

Two of the four injured are in critical condition at hospital and the other pair received serious injures, but are not in life threatening condition.

The Metropolitan Police said the driver of the offending car reportedly fled the scene and enquiries are underway to find the individual.

A woman, found in the suspect's car, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. She has since been bailed.

Police are supporting the next of kin of all those injured.

Any witnesses yet to speak with police have been asked to call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Alperton Traffic Garage on 020 8246 9820 quoting CAD 5765/24MAR24. 

They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who captured the collision on dash cam, who were in the area around the time of the collision, or have any information regarding the driver of the vehicle.
