A Premier League footballer has been fined for assaulting a police officer outside an Essex nightlcub.
West Ham defender James Tomkins, 25, admitted assaulting an officer, being drunk and disorderly in public and obstructing an officer outside Brentwood's Sugarhut on December 21 last year.
Appearing at Southend Magistrates' Court yesterday, Tomkins was fined £3,500 for assaulting the officer following a night out with friends at the venue made famous by The Only Way is Essex (TOWIE).
Earlier that day, he had played for West Ham against Manchester United at Old Trafford where his team lost 3-1.
Tomkins, of Shenfield, was ordered to pay £3,785 court costs, £200 compensation to the police officer and a £120 victim surcharge.
