West Ham United will face Manchester City at London Stadium in the third round of the FA Cup.

Slaven Bilic’s side will be hoping to replicate the cup form which took them to the quarter finals last season before their progress was halted by eventual winners Manchester United.

On that occasion the Old Trafford club needed a replay to get past their East London opponents after the Hammers had been held to a draw in Manchester.

They will need to produce a better display than in the league if they are to do so after a torrid start to the campaign has left them 17th in the Premier League.

The Hammers last reached the FA Cup final under Alan Pardew in 2006 when Steven Gerrard’s stoppage time equaliser denied them a famous win at the last.

Manchester City have enjoyed as solid start to life under Pep Guardiola and have appeared in two finals in the last five years.

They won the trophy in 2011 before suffering a shock defeat against Wigan Athletic two years later.

City crashed out of the competition at the fifth round last season after a 5-1 defeat to Chelsea.

West Ham have won the cup on three previous occasions in 1964, 1975 and 1980.

The match will be played on the weekend of Saturday, January 7.
