Ross Embleton admitted ninth-tier Burnham Ramblers could not provide the "intensity" to fully test his Leyton Orient side in their 10-0 win in Essex last night, but was still pleased with the opportunity the game offered the O's.

The Essex Senior League side and Orient met in a hastily arranged friendly yesterday evening, with the O's playing a number of lower-tier sides in pre-season after having to produce a programme of fixtures at short notice because of the club's late takeover.

Embleton admitted he would have liked the O's to face a "tougher challenge" than a team playing their football four levels below their own, but had plenty of positives to draw from the rout.

He said: "The biggest thing at the moment is those physical outcomes we can take from the game.

"We played 60 minutes for the players who needed a little more work. They haven’t had as much game time, so we gave 30 for the more senior players who need a little less.

"We would have liked it to be a little more intense. The situation we find ourselves in playing cactch-up, we can never have too many positives in terms of putting a team out there.

"We had a lot of the ball so we can see what we are like in possession. Some of the young players have experience playing against men now.

"The goals are obviously great, and the number of individuals getting a go."

Tristan Abrahams grabbed five goals at Leslie Field, after adding to his strike in Saturday's 6-1 win at Harlow Town, and despite his young age Embleton is hopeful he can have a big impact at the club this season.

"Tristan has got a big future," he said. "If he can home in on some of the areas he needs to improve in his game, he’s can do well and he could be a real asset for us.

"His pace and finishing ability are both very good but as a young player he can’t be expected to start every week.

"Off the bench, he could be useful to provide a spark too. From what I have seen, working with him, he’s got a real big future to look forward to."
