Ayrton Simmons enjoyed a productive week in the Formula Four Championships, earning a podium finish at Snetterton.

The Epping driver has had a fine season so far, collecting his maiden race victory, and continued the theme with a second-place finish over the weekend.

Simmons’ success was built on an impressive qualifying display which saw him claim third spot on the grid with a time of 1.51.818.

His time was just 0.233 seconds slower than that of pole setter Oscar Piastri.

Piastri pipped Simmons to the post in the events opening race, which saw Linus Lundqvist complete the top three.

Despite still claiming a top 10 finish, Simmons’ second outing was not quite as profitable as he came in sixth.

Simmons’ form picked up again in the third and final race where he just missed out on a second podium finish coming in behind Lundqvist in fourth spot.

The TRS Ardent team member will hope to carry his form into the championships next meet, which takes place at Knockhill on the weekend of August 12.
