Hotshot Tristan Abrahams could have his Leyton Orient loan return from Norwich City cut short despite the O’s ongoing search for another striker.

Head coach Steve Davis is seemingly unconvinced the 18-year-old can balance playing for the O’s first-team while training with the Canaries, and will discuss the youngster’s future with director of football Martin Ling.

The flying Orient academy graduate was on fire for the E10 club in pre-season, earning a transfer to Carrow Road earlier this month and returning to Brisbane Road on a year-long loan as part of the deal.

However, Abrahams is eligible for Norwich’s youth sides and has featured twice for their Under-23s since his switch, but is yet to play a single minute for the O’s in the National League.

“He’s not had a lot of game time and he’s been able to get that there,” Davis said. “I’m not sure how that’s going to develop because he’s going to be training there.

“That’s one for us to sit down and think long and hard about, as to whether that’s the right direction for both him and the football club.”

Davis confirmed after Saturday’s 2-0 win at Woking that the O’s are on the lookout for more firepower elsewhere, in the shape of a target man, but have been frustrated in their search so far.

For now, first-choice Macauley Bonne and David Mooney have been in decent form, with five goals between them so far, and Orient are no closer to a new addition with seven days of the transfer window remaining.

“We’re still looking,” Davis said. “A lot depends on the clubs these players are with, obviously.

“All we can do is make enquiries, and we’ve had a couple of players choose other clubs - but that’s just how it goes.”
