Several award-winning authors visited a school last week as part of a programme of literary events.
Pupils at Debden Park High School in Loughton welcomed authors including Dan Freedman, who held a book signing event and an hour-long assembly for Year Seven pupils on World Book Day last Thursday.
Andy Mulligan, author of Trash, gave a presentation and held workshops with Year Nine pupils on Tuesday, and on Wednesday award-winning author Beverley Naidoo introduced Year Eight pupils to her books including Journey to Jo’burg.
Other events throughout Book Week included competitions, film screenings, and a special lunch for Year 10 pupils.
Sharon Palmer, the school's Director of Literacy, said: "We have had an outstanding week of events and visits from famous authors.
"Staff and students loved the week and it has been a privilege to work with such acclaimed authors and see them inspire our students."
