Two men have been arrested of suspicion of theft after a van containing stolen spare tyres was stopped by police.
The men aged 36 and 37, both from north London, are being held by Essex Police after the red Citroen Berlingo van they were travelling in was pulled over in Upland Road, Thornwood, at 1.30pm yesterday (August 24).
It was stopped as officers believed it was using false number plates.
A search of the van found four spare wheels belonging to a Ford Transit van, a Volkswagon Caddy and possibly a Nissan Qashqai.
A number of tools were also found.
Police are appealing for motorists in the Epping and Buckhurst Hill area to contact them if they think their spare tyres may have been stolen and have not reported the incident.
To report the theft, call Essex Police on 101.
