The search is on to find the “savage” attackers who stabbed a teenager to death.

Despite already charging two men with killing Joshua Bwalya, 16, in Barking, police believe there are more suspects out there.

Officers are keen to trace a group of youths who were seen wearing dark clothes, bandanas and riding bicycles in the area at 1am.

Joshua died in the early hours of Wednesday, August 2, in Movers Lane, Barking, after police found him stabbed near the junction with Ripple Road.

London Ambulance Service paramedics were rushed to the scene but the teenager was pronounced dead on arrival.

Two other males, aged 16 and 20, were also found suffering from stab wounds nearby.

They were taken to separate hospitals where they were arrested on suspicion of murder.

Police discharged them following treatment, releasing them with no further action.

Detective Chief Inspector Gary Holmes, who is leading the investigation, said: “I am renewing my appeal for anyone who witnessed this tragic murder and who is yet to speak with my team to come forward and let us know what you saw.

“I believe that the suspects in this fatal stabbing were riding bicycles. They were dressed in dark clothing, and some of them are thought to have been wearing bandana-type face coverings and hoods.

“They would have looked out of place and I am certain someone would have seen where they went.

"Whilst we have charged two men with Joshua's murder, this remains an ongoing investigation and I know that there are other suspects, who at this time remain unidentified.

“It is crucial that I identify and arrest these people and I feel sure that someone must know who they are. I would appeal directly to any such people to come forward.

“This was a savage attack on a 16-year-old boy which has left his family devastated. I would urge you to come forward and help them.”

Kareem Lashley-Weekes, 19, of Maryland Park, Stratford, and Ayrton Ambrose, 19, of Glengall Road, Peckham, have both been charged with two counts of attempted murder of a 16-year-old male youth and a 20-year-old man.

They will appear in custody later today, at Barkingside Magistrates' Court.

An 18-year-old man has been bailed pending further enquiries to a date in September.
