A school is preparing to put on a stage production of Grease to mark the musical's 40 year anniversary.

Two years ago, just 20 students got involved in a school production when dance was first added to the curriculum at Epping St John.

Now fully gripped by performance fever, this year 140 students are taking on roles in the fas talking summer romp.

Sarah Viccars, director of learning, creative and physical innovations, said: “Everyone who auditioned for Grease has a role, from the lead actor to set painting. It’s about being inclusive.

"Even Year 11, who cannot have an acting part because of their exam commitments, are helping with set and costumes to keep them involved.

“It’s quite overwhelming. Two years ago, I set myself a goal of getting 150 students involved in a show and we’re almost there already. I am really proud of that.

"I’m glad so many of our students are having that opportunity as these are the things you remember when you look back on your school days.”

Tickets for the performances between June 19 and 21 are £6.
