Jokes and giggles are guaranteed at a comedy show to mark Black History Month.

Hosts Robbie Gee and Eddie Nestor will welcome up-and-coming performers at the Walthamstow Assembly Hall.

The event will take place on Friday, October 19.

It features up-and-coming performers including Slim Grey, Felicity Ethnic and Rudi Lockwood, among other top acts.

Eddie Nestor said: “I really look forward to the annual BHM event at Waltham Forest. It is fantastically well supported by the council and not only showcases the very best black performers but transcends race.

"It includes emerging talent from within the local community too.

“The fact that the event is a sell out every year emphasises how it connects with the audience, in the borough and beyond.”

In previous years the comedy night has played host to household names such as Richard Blackwood and Gina Yashere.

More recently, the line-up has expanded to include singers and musicians.

Cllr Paul Douglas, junior cabinet member for culture, said: “This is really one of the highlights of the year – a chance to catch famous names at the top of their game joined on stage by some of the stars of tomorrow right here in Walthamstow for a raucous evening of comedy.

“As we move toward 2019 and our time as London’s very-first Borough of Culture it’s great to see another top-notch evening of comedy and culture, which I know our residents will really enjoy.

“Walthamstow Assembly Hall is the perfect venue to enjoy this popular event which we are expecting to sell out quickly – make sure you move quickly and get your tickets booked today.”

Comedy night organiser Glen Watson explained why it is so important: “The month gives everyone an opportunity to learn about the past. I believe it is very important to support BHM as way in which black people can continue to learn about their history.”
