A grand Christmas tree has been erected in Chigwell for the first time in years.
A large, light covered tree now illuminates the Station Green following the ceremonial switch on on Friday.
Reverend Paula Preston and the Christians Choir led the assembled crowds in carol swinging.
Cllr Darshan Sunger, leader of the parish council, said: "We want to thank Cllr Rochelle Hodds for organising the event and our sponsors Mr. David Reid of Chigwell Volvo and Endeavour Automotives for their generous financial contributions.
"All the shop keepers for help us promote the event in Chigwell Row, Grange Hill and Brook Parade.
"A big thank you to the executive members of the CRA Chigwell Residents Association for promoting the event.
"We look forward to this being a yearly date in the calendar like the Diwali, Menorah and Diwali lights."
