A nightclub's licence has been suspended following the stabbing of a teenager on New Year's Eve.

Club 195 in Cottis Lane, Epping will remain closed until further notice following what Essex Police describe as “a number of incidents across 2018”.

The force is proposing for that the bar’s licence be revoked, with a full hearing planned to take within the next 28 days.

Essex Police tweeted earlier today saying: “Club 195 in #Epping has had its licence suspended by @eppingforestdc effective immediately after we asked for it to be reviewed.”

One youth is in a stable condition in hospital after being stabbed once in the stomach shortly after midnight on January 1.

He was attacked after being involved in "a verbal exchange" with a group of men on the dancefloor.

The group left the club after the stabbing.

The victim's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

A knife found in a nearby street has been sent away for forensic testing but detectives do not yet know if it was the weapon used in the attack.

Another teenager was left unconscious and with several teeth missing after being attacked in the street outside the club at around 3.30am.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We do not believe that these two incidents are linked, but would encourage anyone who was out celebrating New Year's Eve at Club 195 to contact us with any information if you saw either of these occur."
