The victim of the Chingford house fire murder has been named.
Police, the London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service were called to a residential address on Genever Close on Tuesday (February 19) at 1.12pm.
The deceased man, Brian Wieland, 69, was found inside the house where he lived.
His next of kin have been informed.
A post-mortem examination was held on Thursday (February 21) at Walthamstow Mortuary, and cause of death was given as multiple head injuries.
A 51-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.
She was taken to hospital to be treated for burns where she remains in a stable condition. Her injuries are not life-threatening.
She will be questioned by police in due course.
Initial enquiries suggest that the arrested woman and Mr Wieland knew each other.
The Homicide and Major Crime Command are leading the investigation where enquiries continue.
