Twelve voluntary groups across the city and within the district have received over £155,000 for community projects across the capital.
The projects been funded by the City of London Corporation’s Central Grants Programme, which supports community, cultural, environmental, educational and employment projects across London.
Loughton Youth Project received £13,174 to fund an Epping Forest Young Warden Scheme whilst Alzheimer's Association’s ‘Singing for the Brain’ in Epping Forest received £14,852.
Lee Blissett, trustee from Loughton Youth Project, said: "Parts of Epping Forest are cherished open green spaces in our local community.
“We are delighted to be working with the City of London Corporation to see that local youngsters enjoy, recognise and contribute to the beauty and success of their local area.”
Food growing co-operative Organiclea Ltd, in Lea Valley, was granted £14,300 to offer guided walks, stretch and relaxation sessions and a family forest cycling programmes.
Brian Kelly of Organiclea Ltd, said: “We are delighted to receive this grant which will enhance our connection with the Forest and allow us to expand our activities beyond our 12-acre market garden at Hawkwood.
“We’ve had many previous discussions about doing this programme and now with this grant, we can make it happen.”
Highams Park Community CIC also obtained £13,550 to improve the environment, access and wayfinding in Epping Forest and around the Highams Park Lake area.
