A family run mobility company will officially open it’s first shop later this month.

Elias Care, have based above Next along Epping High Street for over eight years will have their own unit to sell mobility products from Tuesday, March 26.

Alongside providing a bespoke care service, the company will sell puzzles for dementia patients, mobility scooters and more to existing and new customers.

Registered manager and founder of Elias Care, Jennifer Biggins, from Epping, set up the business after taking sabbatical leave to care for her terminally ill father.

“My father had cancer and was given three months to live and he lived for another 16 years,” she explained. “He was adamant he lived as long as he did because of the care he was getting.

Ms Biggins, who has been in the care industry for ten years, said everyone who works for Elias Care have helped loved ones during tough times.

The new store will also have a special area to hold group meetings for residents to discuss their experience of caring or suffering with dementia, Parkinson’s and strokes.

She added: “We are trying to focus on things people don’t get through social services. We are trying to make sure people maintain their independence as long as possible for instance a special kettle which makes and pours a cup of tea.

“I have seen how people benefit with these aids and they are not available along the high street, we thought it would be so much nicer for the local people to have access to this equipment.”

Jennifer’s daughter, office manager Kaleda Mendy, from Loughton, said a pre-opening party will also be held where guests will receive refreshments and goodie bags.

“We can’t wait, it’s just the beginning,” said Mrs Mendy.

“We would love everyone to come down and here some talks and just be an outreach place for people who don’t know too much about us, the nearest mobility shop is in Harlow.”

Compliance assistant, Amie Winter said: “We are really excited, not everyone realises we are here because our office is hidden above the shops by Next so it will be a good chance to promote our company and the services we provide.

“We have been working on this since Christmas, so it should all be on schedule.”

Elias Care welcome party will take place on Monday, March 25 from 4pm on Epping High Street.

The company are also seeking staff to help run the new store open from Monday to Saturday, to register your interest, email info@elaiscare or call 01992 560099.
