A group of college students enjoyed a week’s visit to Dubai’s popular Gulf as part of their travel and aviation course.

Youngsters from New City College’s Epping Forest Campus all had to fundraise in order to secure a place on the exclusive trip.

The week-long stay involved educational visit of the popular destination, learning what is involved in planning and coordinating a large scale, long-haul holiday.

Travel and aviation course leader, Simone Butler, said: “The trip was as great success and a major part of the course is to travel to a long-haul destination and Dubai definitely ticked all the boxes for a fantastic educational visit.”

The group visited the iconic Sheik Saeed's house, a member of the royal family of Dubai and the Burj Khalifa the world’s tallest man-made structure.

A local guide also met with the students and explained about the history of Dubai and how tourism as an industry has evolved.

Travel and aviation student Charlotte Saunders said: “It was an amazing experience and one I'll never forget.”

The trip ended with a 4x4 jeep safari desert trek, camel rides, sand and a camp barbecue discovering the traditional Arabic culture of the Gulf and Dubai.

New City College is hosting an open day for new students on Saturday, March 23, at its Epping Forest campus.
