A man has been jailed for six years and six months after attacking his victim in his own home.

Desmond Sage, 52, of Rochford Avenue, Loughton, was sentenced for aggravated burglary on Wednesday, March 13.

Sage was found guilty by a jury of the offences at the same court on Wednesday, February 20.

He also received five years for grievous bodily harm with intent and two years and five months for possession of an offensive weapon, to run concurrently.

Investigating officer DC Robert Guiney, of Loughton CID, said: “Sage has continued to deny the offences, despite the overwhelming evidence against him."

At around 6.45pm on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, Sage knocked at an address in Colson Road, where he grabbed a man by the throat.

Sage then violent attacked the victim’s own home whilst armed with a weapon before he pushed the victim into his hallway and into a glass cabinet.

The man managed to escape and run off but was chased and struck with what he believed to be an extendable baton.

Sage then drove off from the scene and was arrested a week later.

DC Guiney added: “The victim bravely defended himself against Sage and received injuries to his arms and hands.

“I would like continue to praise him for his courage and I hope this outcome offers some justice to him.”
