I was disappointed that you published the letter from Richard Newcombe last week where he falsely claimed more than one million people attended the Peoples’ March on Saturday, March 23. Various independent assessments of the numbers have been made and I forwarded you a link to these. In fact it is believed only 300,000 to 400,000 attended.
His letter continues with a doomsday scenario of fear totalling lacking any confidence in this great nation.
If he does really wish to stay in the EU let him tell us what that might entail. Yet further and further close integration, a European army, central control of our economy, harmonisation of taxes and possible entry into the Euro.
He mentions young people but fails to spell out the mass unemployment of the young in France, Spain, Italy, Portugal and Greece. The EU works fine for Germany but not for others.
We should seize the opportunities that the exit we voted for can deliver, not allow poor losers to stop it happening.
