A celebratory lunch party was held in honour of an elderly members society’s 70th anniversary.
49 members of the Senior Citizens Club of Chigwell enjoyed a classic afternoon tea at Victory Hall in Chigwell on Monday, April 1.
Letters from Her Majesty the Queen and disitrct MP Eleanor Laing were sent to the club in honour of the occasion.
Daisy Mason and her husband Mike from Chigwell, have been members of the club for three years.
"They was really pleased that the club had been going for so many years," said Mrs Mason. "The Queen in particluar was very interested in the support and friendship the club provides.
"We plan to put the letters and the photos taken from the day into a scrapbook for everyone to look at."
Dozens of sandwiches, scones and drinks were shared amongst those who regularly attend the club’s meetings and get togethers.
Live music was part of the day’s entertainment for guests, including a pink and white iced cake to mark the platinum anniversary.
Members of the Senior Citizens Club at Chigwell orginally met in the Dicken's Room at King's Hall before relocating to Victory Hall.
The club currently has one space left for anyone wanting to join. The next meet-up will be on Monday, May 13.
