A care home will close temporarily after being given the green light to completely redevelop the home’s facilities.

Chalfont Court Care Home in Rickmansworth is owned and operated by the Acacia Care group and it is working with the council to refurbish the home.

Building work will include a new roof and the addition of a second floor.

The first floor of the care home was decommissioned in August last year; with the rest of the home to be decommissioned on April 30 in preparation for 8-month refurbishment, with the home aiming to reopen in January 2020.

Work is now beginning to relocate the current residents to a suitable home. With the help of the council’s Home Finders, residents will be able to make the smooth transition to their temporary accommodation, while ensuring they will be receiving the same level of care.

Acacia Care owner Jay Patel said: “The welfare and safety of our residents is our absolute priority, which is why the refurbishment is going to be a necessary and exciting process for all involved.

“We will also be offering residents the option to return to the home when the refurbishment is completed and the recommissioning commences, at the same rate they are currently paying.”
