A running club who has combined jogging with litter picking filled up so much rubbish they ran out of bags.

Orion Harriers Running Club, in Chingford, held their second plogging event on Saturday, May 4 which launched back in March.

Around 15 people led by Alan Goldbold successfully filled rubbish bags of discarded cans, takeaway containers and bags of dog waste.

Speaking about another successful turnout, Mr Goldbold said: “About 15 of us out in the forest for an hour but still a large number of rubbish bags filled and a double duvet cover full of rubbish was found.

“It would be great to see more non club members there as they was so much rubbish we hardy did any running. “

Originating from Sweden, plogging has become a popular activity in an attempt to reduce waste in public areas whilst maintaining personal fitness.

Epping Forest Ploggers next event will take place on Sunday, June 30, at Bury Road, Chingford from 10.30 am.
