Over 1,300 bikers took part in an annual 60-mile route to raise money for a charity air ambulance service.

Motorcyclist from across Essex and Hertfordshire drove from Welwyn Garden City to North Weald Airbase in honour of Essex & Herts Air Ambulance (EHAAT).

Crowds lined and cheered along the streets as participants tackled the route which went through Hitchin, Royston, Puckeridge, and Bishop’s Stortford on Sunday, May 12.

Spectators who greeted racers who finished at North Weald, also enjoyed a full day of family-friendly entertainment including live music, trade stalls and rides.

Emily Donnachie, events manager at EHAAT, said: “It’s been great to see so many supporters turn out to get behind this event.

“Everyone has had a great day, from riders taking part in the Motorcycle Run to children enjoying the stunt shows and children’s rides. Even the weather was on our side with beautiful sunshine all day.

The event was sponsored by Woodland Group, Specialist Aviation Services, Lind Group and Moore’s Motorcycles.

A stunt display show was also put on a daredevil show for guests by duo the Two Brothers.

All money raised will be donated to EHAAT is a Charity who dedicate helping critically ill and injured people within Essex, Hertfordshire and the surrounding areas.

The service is provided free of charge but, unlike NHS emergency services, the charity receives no direct funding from the Government or National Lottery.

Ms Donnachie added: “We’re extremely grateful to everyone in the biking community who has turned out to support our life-saving work, and to all the people who have turned out along the route and at the finish to support them.

“We are looking forward to seeing many of the people who came today at our next Motorcycle Run on Sunday, September 8.

Riders from Ford Dunton to Harwich who wish to take part can register now, including another free Family Fun Day event for guests.
