A teenager was taken to hospital after he was hit round the head with a metal pole.

The 17-year-old boy was with friends when a large group of 14 teenagers approached them in King George V Playing Fields, in the Holywell area of Watford.

One of the people in the group was holding a metal pole and he struck the teenager on the head with it. He had to be taken to hospital for treatment.

The large group of boys then ran off in different directions. They are described as being in their late teens and wearing casual clothing.

It all happened at the Tolpits Lane end of the park at around 8pm on Sunday May 5.

Detective Constable Julie Vint, who is investigating, said: “I am appealing for anyone who was in the area and might have witnessed what happened to get in touch.
