A historic bridge over the River Gade has reopened.

The bridge in Cassiobury Park was restored by Watford Borough Council and has been open to the public since June 14.

The work is part of the £4.95million Heritage Lottery-funded Cassiobury Restoration Project, which has focused on improving the park’s facilities such as Watford’s 104-year-old bandstand, its paddling pools and the construction of a new hub building.

The bridge located near the Langley Way entrance fits with the heritage of the park and the carved handrail it has replaced will be reused in other projects in the park.

Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor said: “This fantastic restoration project has helped make sure that we preserve the park’s history.
