Two district councillor’s bid farewell to their counselling careers by officially retiring yesterday.

Cllr Anne Grigg and Cllr Dave Stallan, who both represented North Weald Bassett Parish Council, were greeted by fellow councillors on Thursday, July 4.

Cllr Grigg and Cllr Stallan held the roles in Epping Forest District Council as the district council's assets, economic development portfolio holder and housing portfolio holder respectively.

Following their retirements Cllr Chris Whitbread added Councillors Nigel Bedford, Aniket Patel and Holly Whitbread to his Cabinet in May.

Current Epping Forest District Council Chairman, Richard Bassett, said: “Today we went to see Anne Grigg who stood down this year after serving many years as a district councillor, including chairman.

“We presented her with a long service medal and to thank her for all her hard work supporting the residents of North Weald and the whole of EFDC.”

City of London Councillor for Bishopsgate, Cllr Ben Murphy, said: “Ann Grigg and Dave Stallan were a force of nature when it came to representing the people of North Weald, through so many challenges.

“Without doubt, the airfield would have been complete redeveloped if it wasn’t for their tireless community campaigns. They will both be missed.”
