A small unidentified blade was found unhidden over a popular recreation area.

The object was spotted by a member of the public in Jessel Green, Debden, at around 3pm on Wednesday, July 31.

Officers told Epping Forest Guardian that they are unaware of the specific name of the dagger-like weapon but confirmed it will be destroyed.

There is no reported offences linked to the blade either.

Brentwood and Epping Forest Community Policing Team Unit posted an image of the found object on their Twitter page.

They tweeted: “An eagle eyed member of the public found this offensive weapon just laying in full view in the Jessel Green area of Debden.

“They flagged down the patrolling Epping Forest Community Policing Team officer and handed it in. Working together we will take these weapons off the streets.”
