A school of dead fish have been found floating in a pond by the member of the public.
Around 15 to 20 of the animals were bunched together at the edge of a pond on the Copped Hall estate.
The person who spotted the fish, who does not wish to be identified, said they came across the scene at around 10am on Wednesday, July 31.
The pond is located near a public footpath opposite a white house close to Copped Hall which is also near to singer Rod Stewart's former home.
Shocked by the scene, the Epping resident took some photos in the hope of identifying how they died.
The person took the pictures, said: “I came across a pond on the Copped Hall estate that was full of huge dead fish. The smell was pretty awful.”
Copped Hall has been contacted for a comment.
