The identity of the man who died after his car collided with a tree has been confirmed.
Matt Richardson, 25, from North Weald, was driving alone on Chelmsford Road in Hatfield Heath before he crashed at around 11.10pm on Thursday, August 8.
No one else was in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
Emergency services were called to the scene but Mr Richardson died from his injuries.
Floral tributes were laid by family and friends at the scene of the crash on Friday, August 9.
Shortly after the incident, PC Adam Manly tweeted: "So sad to be sat on a road closure of a fatal RTC tonight... A1060, Hatfield Heath likely to be closed for some time @EPUttlesford please drive safely & sensibly!!! #fatal4 #takestoomany".
Essex Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the collision and are asking anyone with information or dash cam footage to call our Serious Collision Investigations Team on 101 quoting incident 1421 of 08/08/
