A lawn bowling competition was held over the wekeend to help raise money for its service.

Epping Bowls Club held their annual fundraising event for Essex & Herts Air Ambulance on Lower Bury Lane on Saturday, August 10.

Members of the club competed against each other throughout the evening, where players had specific targets to land on in order to win points.

The charity event raised a total of £326 for EHAAT and was sponsored by Millers Estate Agents based in Epping.

The top three winners each received a box of Heroes chocolates to celebrate their efforts.

Edward Panter, who organises the event every year, said: “The event was well supported and, as a result, we raised £326 for the charity.

"I am delighted as this is a record amount thanks to the generous support by Millers Estate Agents.

“The weather forecast was not good but our stalwart players braved the rain and all was well.”

Epping Forest Councillor Chris Whitbread and his wife Mari Louise also participated in the competition and joined in the celebrations with a glass of fizz.

Cllr Whitbread said: “It’s an absolute delight to support Epping Bowls Club which has a rich history in the local area.

“Helping good causes and the local community makes this a great partnership and we enjoyed watching the competition unfold.”
