Students from across east London collected their A-Level results with many left feeling delighted and relieved with their grades.
Several sixth form pupils from Norlington School, Highams Park School, Waltham Forest College, Lammas School, Leyton Sixth Form College, Walthamstow Academy, Trinity Catholic High School and Forest School have secured places at top universities across the country.
Here is the roundup of how the classes of 2019 did in their exams:
Norlington School, Leyton
Humza Shaikh, 18, Leyton, achieved A, A, B grades in Biology, History and Maths respectively and will study Politics, Philosophy and Law at Warwick University.
He says the secret to his success was through balancing hard work and fun and praised the school for encouraging students to take care of their mental health first.
He said: “You have to be dedicated and disciplined when it comes to studying for your exams, you have to put the hours in.
“But you also can’t get too stressed with it though. Norlington teachers are really good at making sure you have good mental health going into your exams. It is the best way to prepare.”
Ziyaad Patel also achieved B, B, C grades in Biology, Chemistry and Maths respectively and will study Pharmacy at Kingston University.
He said: “The way you are taught at this school is unique. They make sure you feel happy and confident going into your exams. It makes you feel supported and more confident.
“I have also been doing lots of independent study by watching YouTube videos online. I have but the hard work in and now I am seeing the benefits. I am proud of myself.”
Highams Park School, Waltham Forest
Jospeh Axe was Highams Park School's top performer in STEM subjects who achieved two A*s in Maths and Further Maths, and an A in Physics. He will be studying Physics at the University of Warwick.
Ryan Ireland will also be studying Physics at a Russell Group university. His A*A and B in Maths, Physics and Computer Science have won him a place at the University of Bristol.
Ellen Rahman achieved A*A and B in Maths, Further Maths and Physics and she will be studying Maths at the University of York.
Principal Phil Grundy said: “These results reinforce how strong we are at Highams Park 6th Form across so many A level and BTEC subjects. Our dedicated students and inspirational teachers have reaped the rewards of all their hard work.
"I would like to congratulate each and every student who has invested so much time and effort into their studies over the last seven years at Highams Park. We look forward to hearing about all their future success.”
Principal Gill Burbridge said: “We are absolutely delighted with our results and, on behalf of the staff and Governors I would like to congratulate all of our students on what they have accomplished."
She continued: "Amongst these wonderful results we are very proud of Aaminah Badat who achieved A grades in Biology, History and Psychology and has secured a place to study Human, Social and Political Sciences at the University of Cambridge."
BTEC students at Waltham Forest College
The ritual of A-level results day is so well known it is sometimes easy to forget that the thousands of students across the UK are receiving their BTEC results, qualifications that are vocational and work-related courses.
Health and social care student, Lamira Shelly, said: “I just secured the university place of my choice and all the hard work has certainly payed off.”.
Fashion student, Charisma Dapaah-Boateng, just secured a place in University of Hertfordshire to study Fashion and Textiles.
She said: “This college has prepared me well to continue my career onto higher education and I cannot stop smiling today”
Public Services student Alex Hosken, said: “The advice and guidance that I received around my career journey has been helpful. I have attended various careers workshops and fairs that the college has organised and I have now landed my dream job to join the London Fire Brigade.”
Lammas School and Sixth Form, Leyton
Head Ahmed Seedat said: "Lammas sixth formers have done themselves proud in their A-level results again this year so that they can continue their education and pursue their career opportunities.
"They are moving on to study physics, sports psychology, criminology, history, creative writing, law, and economics, mechanical engineering, computer science.
"The ‘class of 2019’ leave a very positive legacy to inspire future cohorts of students as they embark on their A-level courses at the school."
Leyton Sixth Form College
The college achieved an outstanding an A-Level pass rate of 99 per cent this year.
Vocational results were equally strong with 100 per cent pass rate and a further increase in students achieving the highest grades.
Across the cohort, 75 per cent of students achieved top A*, A and B grades or the vocational equivalent.
Walthamstow Academy
The Academy’s overall pass rate at A Level was 99.4 per cent with 74 per cent graded A*-C.
The school’s Head Boy, Adam Brown was awarded A*, A*, A and will read Law at the University of Cambridge.
Abdul Samad achieved AAB and will study Accounting at the LSE.

Yousra Haji, a member of the academy’s Junior Leadership Team, achieved ABC and will be studying Aerospace Engineering at Queen Mary, University of London.
Zaryab Khan achieved AAB and will also be studying Aerospace Engineering at Queen Mary, University of London.

Nimra Pervaiz achieved Distinction*, Distinction*, Distinction and will be undertaking Nursing Studies at Kings College, University of London.
Daisy Shelton, part of the Academy’s Junior Leadership team, achieved A*, A, B and is happy to be taking up a place at the University of Cambridge to study Architecture.
Trinity Catholic High School, Woodford Green
32 students attained grades of AAB or higher, with a total of 20 students achieved either three or four A*/A grades in their A Levels.

More than 200 students at the school have gained a place at a UK university this year.
Director of Sixth Form, Margaret Keegan, said: “Our students have worked extremely hard and we are extremely proud of them. They deserve their success. We offer congratulations and good luck to all of them.”

Forest School, Snaresbrook
On this year’s A level results, the Warden of Forest School, Marcus Cliff Hodges, said: “At Forest we want to ensure that young people leave the School with plenty of ambition and character, with a developed work ethic, and having tasted success on different fronts.
"These excellent results, and the many individual success stories contained within them, reflect the hard academic work done by this cohort whilst being hugely busy outside the classroom as well.
"They move on to the next stage of their young adult lives with our best wishes.”
