A woman reportedly had her headscarf pulled off and was racially abused while walking along a street.
Police said the alleged victim, a 42-year-old woman was walking from Hoe Street to Edison Close in Walthamstow on Sunday, September 1 when the incident happened.
Another woman, 32, who witnessed what happened tried to help and the suspect then assaulted her - police said.

Police are aware of an incident in Walthamstow on Sunday where a lady was assaulted & her headscarf pulled off.
The female believed responsible has been arrested & police (& health services) are investigating.

A 61-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of two counts of racially aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm. She has been bailed to a date in late September.
Waltham Forest Police is investigating the incident as a hate crime.
On its Twitter account, Waltham Forest Police said it has put additional patrols in place.
