Epping Town Council has paid tribute to a former Town Mayor and a Freeman of the Town who both died recently.

Former town councillor Sue Perry was a Conservative district councillor representing Epping Hemnall from 2004 to 2007, including holding the position of Town Mayor in 2003.

Freddy Limer MBE was awarded Epping Town Council's Freeman of the Town honour in 2015.

He was chairman of Epping Urban District Council in 1968 and 1969, served as an Epping Conservative district councillor from 1974 until 1979 and also represented the Epping Hemnall ward from 1979 until 1986.

He was district council vice-chairman in 1982-83 and chairman for the 1983-84 municipal year.

Epping Town Mayor Grahame Scruton said: "The town council was saddened to hear of the passing of both Freddy Limer and Sue Perry, two people who have given so much to the town over many years through their work with the town and district councils and also for numerous local organisations and committees."
