Epping Town Council has awarded a £1,500 grant to the Epping Forest District Citizens Advice Bureau.

The money will help the organisation situated in Loughton Library continue to provide its vital face-to-face and telephone service in in the town.

The CAB provides advice on a range of issues including Universal Credit benefits, debt, employment, housing and family matters.

On Tuesday, September 4, the Loughton-based branch, along with several other Citizens Advice facilities across the country celebrated the company’s 80th birthday.

The milestone was commemorated with an exhibition showcasing how residents have been supported through several social welfare problems.

CAB was founded the day after World War Two was declared (September 4, 1939).

Last year the national service helped 2.7 million people across England and Wales in person, by phone, email or web chat.

Between April 2018 and March 2019 the Epping office has seen more than 716 clients, up from 338 clients in 2017-18.
