An Under 9’s cricket team were crowned the winners of a brand-new competition where they secured a historic score.
Buckhurst Hill Cricket Club defeated South Loughton Cricket Club at the U9 MEDBC cricket competition last month.
The team which made up of nine players achieved 23 runs and 37 wickets, which lead to a final of score of 228 points.
Loughton looked set to claim the trophy until captain Jayan Patel took a crucial wicket to swing the game back to Buckhurst Hill.
Their victory saw them be the first ever team presented the Freddie Goldman hard ball trophy.
All this followed the Don Coates final one week earlier where Buckhurst Hill defeated South Loughton by five runs
Coaches Dalbir Kathuria (South Loughton CC) and Nikesh Patel (Buckhurst Hill CC) praised both sets of players for the high standard of cricket and sportsmanship they displayed.
