An inquest has opened after a cyclist died after falling off his bike.
Essex Coroners Court in Chelmsford officially opened the inquest yesterday (Friday, October 4) with senior coroner for Essex Caroline Beasley-Murray overseeing the hearing.
The identity of the 59-year-old male cyclist fell from his bike on Horsehoe Hill in Upshire, Waltham Abbey on Sunday, September 8, was also named.
Peter Errol Mayo from Hertfordshire was attended to emergency services at 4.20pm following the incident but sadly died in Royal London Hospital on Saturday, September 21.
He sustained life-threatening injuries and that the cause of death as a traumatic brain injury.
Essex Police are appealing for anyone who was on the road around this time or has dash cam footage to come forward.
Officers also noted that Mr Mayo's helmet was considerably damaged.
The full inquest has been adjourned until May 4, 2020.
