Primary school pupils were taken back in time to the world of Oliver Twist.
Children at Hereward Primary School in Loughton were visited by actor Anthony Glenn who performed Oliver Twist to the school as part of its Charles Dickens week,
Anthony Glenn performs one-man-show adaptations of classic literature, from Shakespeare to Dickens.
For this performance however, Anthony was joined on stage by enthusiastic youngsters to help him tell the tale of Oliver Twist.
The children in Years 3 and 4 then participated in drama workshops throughout the rest of the day.

Headteacher Matt Woolard said: "What a wonderful day it was. Anthony Glenn showed how such classic literature can be made accessible to children of all ages.
"They absolutely loved his rendition of Oliver Twist and have been further inspired to learn more about the story."
