Cannabis has been seized following an operation yesterday morning.

Police raided an address in Ivy Close, Leavseden on Monday, October 21 after acting on intelligence from the local community.

The address was searched and a small quantity of cannabis was found and seized.

The operation was carried out by officers from Three Rivers’ Scorpion Team, with assistance from the safer neighbourhood team.

PC Marcus Zost, from the Operation Scorpion team, said: “We had received intelligence to suggest drugs activity was occurring at this particular address which was adversely affecting those living in the vicinity.

“Therefore we took disruptive action and even though we did not recover large amounts of drugs during the warrant, we hope it serves as reassurance to the local community that when we receive intelligence we take action.

“We know a lot of people will take the view ‘it’s only a bit of cannabis’ but what they don’t often realise that even its recreational use can have a hugely detrimental impact on local communities.

“Cannabis is a gateway drug because once you are exposed to it then you become automatically more likely to come into contact with other drugs, such as cocaine or heroin, as well as more violent and acquisitive crime.

“If you suspect drug crime in your neighbourhood, please continue to report it to police so we can take appropriate action.

“If you choose to allow drugs into your home, it’s only a matter of time before we knock on your door.”
