The wife of the Met police officer who was struck by a car and left seriously injured has released an image of him in an appeal to find the driver.

Jon Casey, aged in his 30s, was working alongside fellow officers to stop the driver of a grey Mini Cooper on Chigwell Hill, Woodford Green at 12.10am on Monday, January 6.

Following an authorised pursuit, officers then waited on Chigwell Road, near Gaynes Hill Road to stop the vehicle.

Mr Casey, who attempted to deploy a Stop Stick (stinger) was struck by the driver who quickly left the scene.

His wife, Donna, shared the graphic image on social media showing her husband with blood across his face and wearing a neck brace.

Mrs Casey wrote: “This is my husband Jon Casey who is the police offer that was run over in Woodford Bridge by driver of car that failed to stop for police. “

“He is a father of three boys, a son, a brother and my best friend.

“We want the public to see what these people will do to get away from justice so please share this picture.

The London Ambulance Service attended the scene where Mr Casey was taken to hospital.

He remains in a serious but stable condition with injuries which are not life-threatening and is being supported by specialist officers.

An investigation is being led by detectives from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit.

The suspect vehicle with false ‘67’ year plates abandoned in Woolhampton Way, Chigwell shortly after the incident at about 12:45am.

Detectives have released an image of the suspect vehicle and are appealing for information of its movements before and after the incident.
