Three councillors who currently represent North Weald Bassett Parish Council have all been recognised on the Queen's Honour's List.

Shirley Hawkins, wife to late former long-time chairman Cyril Hawkins, has been officially co-opted as a North Weald Basset Parish councillor for Thornwood Common.

Mrs Hawkins, who retired last year after working at Epping Forest District Council for 59 years, received the British Empire Medal for her charity work in 2012.

She joins parish councillor Sheila Jackman who received the MBE for services to the community in Ongar in the Queen's Birthday Honours List in 1994.

District councillor Richard Morgan, who represents the Hastingwood, Matching and Sheering Village ward, received his MBE in this year's New Year's Honours List.

Mr Morgan was recognised for services to the community in Harlow and was first elected on to Epping Forest District Council in May 1983.
