A dementia support community programme which focuses on helping those affected and their carers has received an award.
The Epping Forest Dementia Action Alliance (EFDAA) have been presented the Dementia Friendly Community Status on behalf of Alzheimer’s Society Dementia Friendly Communities national scheme.
The award acknowledges the hard work, commitment and action plans that members have made with businesses and organisations to become more dementia-friendly across the district since launching in 2016.
Councillor Aniket Patel said: “Congratulations to Epping Forest Dementia Action Alliance on being awarded Dementia Friendly Community Status.
“I attended the inaugural meeting of this group in 2016 and they have achieved a considerable amount in a short period of time through the drive and determination of their volunteers.”
Mark Neville, Essex Dementia Friendly Communities coordinator also congratulated EFDAA members on achieving this recognition, saying: “This acknowledges all the hard work and commitment that the DAA members have shown so far to supporting people affected by dementia.”
