Pupils held an peaceful environmental protest after learning about waste.

Edge Grove School in Radlett hosted an Eco Day for its pupils in collaboration with World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), Tesco and recycling business TerraCycle.

Every year group took part in various activities to learn about reducing and reusing waste.

Tesco and WWF representatives talked to students about issues associated with waste and the difficulties in balancing food waste, food miles and packaging.

Representatives from TerraCycle explained why recycling was important and how the recycling model works.

In the afternoon, children made banners before going to the school's grounds and held a peaceful demonstration.

Edge Grove headmaster Ben Evans said: "Our Eco Day was a huge success and certainly gave all of us some food for thought in terms of how we can make a difference to the world around us.

"We were incredibly fortunate to have representatives from WWF and Tesco in attendance, both of whom delivered engaging presentations on the challenges they face today and their commitment and drive towards improved sustainability."
